No. These exams are taken only at a supervised venue. That includes the digital versions. You answer on a computer, but you still sit the exam at a venue. If you need an exam you can take at home, look at Linguaskill Remote or the Placement Test.

The structure, scoring and certificate are the same as the standard exam; only the topics differ. The For Schools versions use school life and interests shared by young people, while the standard exams use adult contexts such as work and travel. The certificate does not say 'for Schools' and carries the same recognition.

The structure, number of questions, timing, marking criteria and certificate are identical. The only difference is whether you write on paper or type on screen. Digital results are usually released sooner because Cambridge processes them faster. Paper-based exams give you extra time to transfer your Listening answers. Each session runs in one format, so check the format of the session you are registering for.

Not in a paper-based exam. Answer sheets are scanned for marking, and correction fluid or tape causes scanning problems. Erasable pens smudge and make answers hard to read. If you need to change an answer, strike through the work you do not want marked. As long as the rest of your answer can be read, you are not penalised for it.

For C1 Advanced, centre staff take a photo of each candidate at the venue on the day. It is a security measure and a requirement of the organisations that recognise the result. For exams taken in Asia, no result is issued unless this photo is uploaded. The photo appears on the results verification screen and on your Statement of Results, but not on your certificate. Young Learners candidates (Starters, Movers and Flyers) are not photographed.

Checking results with Cambridge needs your ID number and the password you set when you first registered. The ID number is printed on the confirmation of entry issued by Cambridge, and it is not the same as your secret number. Three wrong passwords lock the account for 30 minutes. After that, clear your browser cookies and cache before trying again. If you no longer use the email address you registered with, or you have lost your login details, please contact us. We can give you your results again or ask Cambridge to reset the account.

Certificates are despatched to the institution about eight weeks after the exam date. Young Learners certificates can arrive sooner. Because we run exams as group testing, certificates go to the institution you registered through, not to individual candidates. Collect yours from the person responsible at your school or organisation. Cambridge cannot send a certificate directly to a candidate.

We do not take individual delivery addresses. Certificates go to the institution you registered through, which will tell you how to collect yours.

Cambridge does not reissue certificates or provide copies. Instead you can order a Certifying Statement, which contains everything on the original certificate, is validated by Cambridge, and is accepted as official evidence — for a university application, for example. You apply directly through the Cambridge online form, which states the cost and how long it takes. A fast track service is available if you need it urgently. If your certificate is damaged rather than lost, return the damaged original to us and a replacement can be issued.

Exam papers and marking records are not released. This is set out in the Cambridge English Regulations. Your Statement of Results gives your score for each section and your overall score. Feedback on individual questions is not available.

An Enquiry on Results has two stages. Stage 1 checks that your exam was processed correctly and that the final grade was calculated without error. Stage 2 is a full re-mark of your Writing test. Speaking is rated by examiners and is not recorded, so it cannot be re-checked. Young Learners (Starters, Movers and Flyers) and TKT are not eligible for stage 2. The centre submits the enquiry on your behalf. Contact us and we will guide you through it. Each stage carries a charge, which is refunded if the enquiry changes your grade. Your grade can go up, go down or stay the same. There are deadlines, so please contact us as soon as possible after receiving your result. Once an enquiry is submitted you cannot view your Statement of Results until it is resolved.

Extended certification applies. If you achieve grade A in A2 Key, B1 Preliminary, B2 First or C1 Advanced, you receive a certificate at the CEFR level above the one the exam is mapped to. If you do not reach a passing grade but still demonstrate the level below, you receive a certificate stating that level.
