Placement Test

An adaptive English placement test for academies and institutions — for streaming and progress

An adaptive Placement Test developed by Cambridge. It diagnoses a candidate's current English level on the CEFR in a short time. Rather than an official certificate, it produces a report for class placement, diagnostics and learning planning.

How to use

A guide for academies and institutions

01

Use it for new-student class placement

Have registrants take a suitable Placement Test once just before the new term to get class-placement data within a day. As an adaptive test, one test paper covers a wide range of levels.

02

Mid- and end-of-term diagnostics

Re-test the same students to show learning progress in objective numbers. Useful for parent consultations, deciding promotions to higher classes, and academies' own learning-outcome reports.

03

Tips for running group tests

One headset per person and a stable internet connection are essential. For groups of children, we recommend splitting into fewer than 50 at a time. A serious attitude — not guessing — directly affects accuracy.

04

Placement → qualification learning roadmap

Diagnose the current level with Placement, then earn official proof with a qualification. YL → Starters/Movers/Flyers, CEPT → A2 Key/B1/B2/C1 or Linguaskill.
